South East London emcee Caskie shares the video for his premier single off his new EP. The song in question is titled “3rd Eye Shut”  and it showcases the rapper’s machine gun flow peppered with that quintessential social commentary.

Backed by a soulful and quite solemn backdrop, Caskie explores the many ways our lives have been distorted by social media, crooked politicians, and so-called influencers. Far from being preachy, he gives a very objective view of things and implores us to always aim for the truth and let the light shine through the darkness of lies that surrounds us all. Caskie sure delivers with his multi-layered lyrics and rapid flow but it’s lines like “…We gotta shine a light in the dark, tell a truth from a lie, the two coincide /Third eye shut who do you trust? Progression is a must I ain’t getting left to rust” that really makes the song touching.

The visual is pretty conceptual and illustrates the manner by which mainstream media can twist the narrative and manipulate people’s perception of the truth. The aesthetic is inspired by the 80s cult classic film They Live by John Carpenter and was shot edited, and produced by Nicholas Tate of Deaf Nick Visuals who was also responsible for the visual effects.

He is currently preparing to drop his debut EP Ways To Stay Broke.

FYI: Caskie was a member of the group Dusty Stragglers alongside Flabz, Sylva Grey, and producer Peter Coates.
