Bobby J From Rockaway  and acclaimed drummer, Daru Jones connects for the head-nodding jam titled “Take It Personal.” The track is a tribute to Gang Starr classic of the same title and it’s featured on the duo’s collab LP, One Mic & Drum, which dropped a few weeks back.

The track blends the old with the new as Bobby J takes the reins with his bravado laced performance over Jones’ impeccable drumming while guest singer Gabriela Riley’s smooth vocals as the loop. In addition to watching how the track was recorded in this new set of visuals, you can hear it for yourself on the duo’s collaborative album, One Mic & Drum. It’s a concept album of sorts that itself harks back to the origins of hip-hop, which consisted of two turntables (DJ) and a microphone (emcee). But instead of a DJ playing breaks, Daru actually plays them live on the drums while Bobby J flexes his talents on the mic.

Also for our viewing pleasure is a mini-documentary of the duo in the studio which showcases their artistic chemistry and then some. Both the music video and documentary were shot and edited by Bobby J himself.
