blackwave is a Belgium-based hip-hop duo consisting of rapper Jay Atohoun and singer-producer Willem Ardui and they caught our ears with their new single “good day.” The mid-tempo soulful cut is honest and candid as they come and sees Jay reflecting on personal loss, depression, and more. Acknowledging that life is a never-ending cycle of drama, he rolls with the punches and reminds us that everyone goes through similar issues even though they might keep a bright face. Willem’s heartfelt and memorable melodic chorus also adds a nice tinge to the reflective tune.
The duo formed after a gig in Brussels in 2017 and they haven’t looked back since. Their debut album ARE WE STILL DREAMING? was released in 2019
