Swedish-Iranian nu-R&B songstress Ayelle returns to our notice with her new single “What’s The Movie” and its accompanying video. The London-based singer delivers a soul-gripping performance ripe with emotions and touching lyrics that center around self-healing and unlearning certain habits in order to become a better person. The production has a scenic and driving feel and her soft sonorous vocals glaze the backdrop and draw listeners into her world.

The song also comes with a video shot by Heyner Hernandez in Siem Reap (Cambodia). The visual focus is on cut scenes and performance shots of Ayelle in different exotic temples and spots in the city. The use of subtle motifs goes unnoticed too as we see Ayelle slowly growing into her true persona as the video progresses.

“What’s The Movie” is taken from Ayelle’s forthcoming LP entitled Shadowselflove which is Part 1 of Ayelle’s debut album, an invitation to identify and see past our illusions and fears, whilst processing and integrating our shadow aspects from a place of curiosity, acceptance and self-compassion. It’s the first half of a two-part concept exploring the duality of human experience.
