Rising hip-hop artist Allen Green makes his debut appearance on our site with his brand of retro-tinged soul-infused music. The producer really caught our ears with his versatile and stylish production with the release of these two singles “Take Me Higher” and “LA Unified”
“Take Me Higher” sounds like an 80s sitcom theme with its lush horns, warm textures and lively drum grooves. He expertly chops some soothing vocal melodies into the mix and throws in a glitch effect to good use. There is so much to unpack here and the overall vibe is relaxing and crisp as well.
“LA Unified” employs a classic R&B/soul sample and is reworked into a modern form with a new drum groove and expertly chopped and sequenced arrangement. The textures are soulful relaxing and have a scenic feel which accentuates Allen’s theme of bringing listeners to experience the different parts of LA’s segregated neighbourhoods.
