We mentioned K-Def on our top 5 producers  of 2011 early on today, and we are glad to spread the word on his new album “Night Shift” which was released today, via Redefinition records.

Support the artist and dedication, purchase the work of a legendary producer in this underground game.

Once again the man from Passaic, New Jersey, is back with another winner.  Classifying K-Def’s Night Shift as a strictly “Hip Hop” release limits the amount of craftsmanship and creative ingenuity that went into this collection of songs, but don’t take our word for it; listen to the record.  Consisting of 2 vocal tracks alongside a handful of expertly programmed instrumental tunes & covers, Night Shift is the type of project that doesnt ask for much, but offers plenty in return as far as replay value is concerned.  Don’t sleep on Night Shift.

For the opening selection, K-Def recreated the standout cut, “Escapizm,” from Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s The Main Ingredient with none other than the author of many of Pete’s rhymes on that album, Rob O (of INI). It’s an effective way to give long-time fans a feeling of nostalgia and introduce new fans to a period in Hip Hop that was truly special.  Check it out…
