Himanshu aka Heems from Brooklyn based Das Racist released the mixtape Nehru Jackets, from which this track is taken, not long ago. Admittedly I only know of Das Racist but on the back of some solid recommendations I sought this out…
Overall it’s a lot of fun. Lyrical content is broad and kept afloat for the tapes 70+ minute runtime with a lot of humour often combining genuine messages and insight, but not always. High school friend and producer Mike Finito keeps things notably fresh too, whether it’s Asian samples when Himanshu flips between English and Punjabi or just straight rugged drums elsewhere. Contemporaries featured include Danny Brown, Mr. Muthaf*ckin’ eXquire and Action Bronson. Audibly there’s a lot to take in, these two dude’s definitely work well together and if you enjoy what you hear above you can grab the full thing for free below…
