Producer Phoniks connects with Houston emcee Anti-Lilly on a stellar audio journey in the form of ‘Stories From The Brass Section‘. TheReturn To The Golden Era producer shows us why he is definitely a force to be reckoned with as he displays a myriad of sonic influences on this project hearken to the early 90s jazz, hip-hop, soul with some live drum type vibes. To be honest that is just one interesting aspect because Anti Lilly brings home the bacon with his introspective, often pragmatic lyrics and engaging delivery.  A man once said ‘Don’t believe the hype’ and I tell you this, Anti-Lilly & Phoniks are far from the hype.

Tune in and get with the program.

Houston emcee Anti-Lilly and Portland, ME producer Phoniks have linked up for a collaborative LP titled “Stories From The Brass Section”. The album is a journey through the mind of the Houston-based poet, filled with thought-provoking rhymes over a soundscape of jazzy piano samples, vinyl horn loops, and dusty drum-breaks created by Phoniks. The pairing of Phoniks vintage east coast production style matched with Anti’s classic laid back H-Town delivery and introspective bars make for a combination that is truly fresh, while paying tribute to the originators of their respective sounds at the same time. Features from Devin Miles, Scolla, and Awon.
