It seemed like the entire Hip Hop community of Minnesota converged onto Canterbury Park in Shakopee, on May 27th. In actuality, fans from 46 states, five Canadian provinces, New Zealand, the UK, Australia, Sweden, Chile, and Israel all made the trip for perhaps the relatively illest festival of the spring.

With the city buzzing during the weeks leading up to Soundset (and promoters throwing shows from Curren$y to Rick Ross to capitalize on the hype), Soundset might have been the illest (or maybe the only) collision of live music, breaking, graffiti, custom cars and skateboarding this year. Although the heat might have bothered someone on another day, fans cooled off to performances from Prof, Grieves & Budo, Danny Brown, Kendrick Lamar, Bambu, Evidence, Big K.R.I.T., Action Bronson, Lupe Fiasco and more. Lupe came out to the stage wishing for rain, and after his performance (disguised as a rain dance), the festival was shut down to massive amounts of rain and an impending thunder storm and tornado. Typical midwest weather. Atmosphere was supposed to close out the festivities but they didn’t touch a stage that day, leaving 20,000+ fans disappointment… or so we thought.
