Ethiopian born Toronto-based singer-songwriter and poet Timaj Garad shares the video for her expressive and multi-genre bending track titled “Black Gold.” The record sees her pay homage to both her cultural and religious roots. Backed by a lush pulsating backdrop courtesy of producer Taabu, Garad delivers a mix of spoken word poetry and a smooth melodic run peppered with insightful and descriptive lyrics that draw listeners closer to her world.

The video is a bright and expressive collage of clips and images that celebrate black Muslim women. It features a blend of contemporary cut scenes with expressive aesthetics that showcases her roots. “Black Gold”  is the opening track from Garad’s forthcoming debut project Blooming at the mouth EP which is scheduled for release on March 5th.
