The music video format has been around for decades, through the 90s and 2000s, and it has taken flight from multi-million dollar budget music videos to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

Jay Gudda drops visuals for the tracks “FRI-END” and “Sadderday.” The tracks are a showcase of his lyrical skill as Jay gudda flexes on the first half before he moves into solemn territory on the second. The visual style is a blend of performance shots with edgy visual motifs and engaging set pieces.
RubyGld Smoke – “Roll With You”
Windy City’s contemporary R&B sensation, Rubygld Smoke enters our visual playlist with their new single “Roll With You.” The beat has a blend of retro R&B vibe with modern aesthetics and showcases their edgy vocal style and expressive songwriting. The chorus is catchy too and the verses are detailed and explore the power of intimacy with that special someone. The visual style is reminiscent of the 90s with its use of tom boyish fashion stylewith a touch of sexiness and class.
SHY.COMFY.DENSE. – “STRAYDOG”.
Indie rapper SHY.COMFY.DENSE. caught our eyes with his latest release “STRAYDOG,” a experimental track that dives into the modern day conundrum of hopelessness, depression and lack of purpose. However, the rapper not only point these out but also shows how he overcame it by finding solace in creating art. The visual style is avant garde and fast paced with use of flashing lights, jagged camera work and moody settings.
Mike Äpt – “Glitter & Gold”
Stockholm living, Texas raised singer-songwriter Mike Äpt shares visuals for his single “Glitter & Gold,” a heartfelt Gospel-tinged contemporary soul track that explores the never ending search for one’s true purpose. The track is brimming with soul-stirring vocal runs that rise to a crescendo on the layered chorus and underpinned by warm textures comprising solemn keys with soft pads and mellow drum grooves. The visualizer is performance based and captures Mike Äpt in his element.
Nightmares On Wax – “Bang Bien”
Warp Records longest serving artist George Evelyn also known as Nightmares On Wax help close this week’s visual playlist with “Bang Bien.” The track is a solid fusion of Reggae/dub/hiphop with experimental pop and showcases his distinct melodic style and stylish arrnagement that pushes the musical boundary to the apex. The visual style uses drawings that come to life in an alternative cut-paste animation style that follows the musical growth of a young man finsing his true purpose in this thing called life.
