Rapper and producer coming straight out of Baltimore by the way of Philly, Shawn Micskills gives us The New America, which is a very political/protest record. A lot has come to the fore in this year 2016 in America and it is refreshing to know that hip hop still holds its place in addressing social issues. This track has a classic East Coast/NYC hip-hop sound and you can definitely tell that Micskills’ flow/style has been influenced and even compared to Joe Budden, Kendrick Lamar, Sean Price (RIP), and Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks. Shawn Micskills both produced the track and recorded the vocals. This shows that he is a man of many talents. A little search will show you the catalogue of this man and you can hear what he has cooked and has been cooking.
