“Feel It” by prolific producer Confidence and Brooklyn-based emcee Rashad, is a record from their original sessions from 2011, but it has been given a new life via the good folks at Below System Records. The track talks about the true elements that make hip-hop culture unique, and the negative effects of the watered-down versions that are being proliferated across all media. The production by Confidence is reminiscent of classic Preem records, featuring expertly chopped samples incorporating stabs, vocal chops and punchy boombap drums with dusty basslines that grip the ears. On the microiphone, Rashad doesn’t take it lightly and points at the corporations and culture vultures who have slowly taken over the game, and he sends a call to action for true lovers of the art form to stand up and support the real ones.
“Feel It” as well as another unreleased track, “Non Stop” and 2019 single “Desires” will be part of the Below System Records 2xLP vinyl edition of The Element Of Surprise reissue. Pre-orders for the vinyl are available via the link here and will start shipping in early May.
