UK-based Nigerian Hip-Hop legend Modenine, soulful vocalist Maka and visionary producer Black Intelligence recently released a collaborative project Thereafter, a 14-track epic body of work that blends edgy wordplay, insightful topics, soothing melodic runs and dope beats. Now, the trio return with the latest single and visuals for “My Skin is Black (Remix),” which was directed/shot by Modenine and edited by XYZ.
The track is a soulful ode to black excellence, black roots and identity. Backed by the solemn backdrop provided by Black Intelligence, Modenine delivers a masterclass in lyricism, fusing black-related wordplay and rhyme schemes with historical references that explore resilience and pride in black heritage across the globe. Maka enters the fray with her unique soul-gripping vocal performance, which adds that extra angelic smoothness to the track.
The visuals crafted by Modenine with visual effects/editing by XYZ continue the duo’s long-running visual collaborations, which started way back on the single “Let It Go.” Blending performance shots, retro clips with seamless transitions and visually engaging set pieces and elements, viewers are taken for an entertaining and enlightening ride from start to finish.
