Contemporary jazz and soul singer-songwriter Lisabel has been on our radar since we got hold of her “Work Of Art” video some years ago. Now she returns to the forefront with her newest release “Mar My Mind” which sees her collaborating with London-based drummer Giuseppe Grondona and keyboardist/ producer Nikola Kovacevic. The result is a brilliant fusion of jazz/soul and hip-hop. From the rousing drum grooves, rich piano progressions and airy synths and pulsating basslines to Lisabel’s distinct melodic runs, listeners are taken deep into the heart and soul of the matter. Lisabel delivers a heartfelt performance ripe with lyrics that dwell on the need to find and keep the good memories as opposed to focusing on the bad ones.
