Atlanta-based bassist, beatmaker, and author Josiah Soren bridges the worlds of modern improv jazz with soul and hip-hop in his latest track entitled “Tears for Tissues.”  Fusing the dynamic musical progression of jazz, soul-stirring elements of neo soul and the edginess of rap, Soren crafts a cinematic and gripping piece that forms the perfect backdrop for rapper Shalom Little to explore the fragility of masculinity, loneliness in the modern world and emotional insecurities. Armed with a laidback flow and knack for painting enthralling images, Shalom Litle takes listeners deep into his psyche and the corners of his mind as he unpacks the issues that needed to be sorted.

The track is taken from his new album, Samurai (Deluxe Edition). The 11-track project originally stemmed from over a year of writing and studio sessions that Josiah Soren organized with the featured Atlanta/Athens rappers – Shalom Little, DK, Abib Jahleel, Truth Hayes, Enya Absi, Rhonnie O’Neal, AUDIADASOUND and Squallé. The entire album was written and arranged before the band played a single note, meaning the vocalists were able to set the intention for each song, and the musicians would follow. In January 2023, all 16 musicians, artists and engineers got together at Maze Studios to record the entire album.
