A few reasons to get the re-release of the Genius’ classically eerie masterpiece: you can listen to it front to back; no one listens to albums anymore; if you have the CD, it’s worn out due to excessive use; and if you’ve never heard it, you shouldn’t be reading this, you should be purchasing it. Oh, and did I mention it comes with a chess set amongst other collectibles? I didn’t? Well it does.Alright, here’s the whole list of GZA stuff that comes with the ‘Chess Box Deluxe Edition’:

  • The original CD plus a second CD with the never-before-released instrumentals
  • A chess set
  • A 20-page booklet featuring an interview GZA
  • Inner jackets and dust sleeves with original artwork from the original LP release and promotional singles

Get On Down, the company releasing the box set, is also planning an LP edition with one black vinyl and one white vinyl.

The re-issue drops July 24, 17 years after the original literally hit shelves.
