After kicking off the year with her lovelorn single “Part Time Muses”, Montreal-based singer/songwriter/rapper Hua Li unveils her latest effort titled “Sanctions of the Heart”. Once, again she teams up with producer Alex Thibault who crafts a sombre and nostalgia-inducing backdrop made up of sublime textures and surreal pads underpinned by smooth drum grooves. Here, Hua Li explores the dynamics of toxic relationships, self-discovery and taking accountability for self-inflicted pain. Armed with her distinct, mellow cadence and graphic lyrical imagery that drops audiences right in the middle of the action, Hua Li takes steps towards self-healing on this heartfelt and reflective track.

The song is followed by an engaging animated visual created by Guillaume Bechon who utilizes 3D artwork incorporated with sculptures from Mexico City’s Ruta de la Amistad. The dream-like sequence follows Hua Li and her unknown lover into a world where emotions are lost and she eventually has to thread this psychedelic jungle to find her true self.

“Sanctions of the Heart” is the latest single taken from Hua Li’s forthcoming album, ripe fruit falls but not in your mouth.
