Critically acclaimed and award-winning instrumentalist Hot Mustard (Jack Powell, Nick Carusos) first tipped off the coming of their full-length project last year November with the lead single “Mustard Green” and now they return with yet another exciting output. The latest single titled “Butcher Block”, a lively cinematic piece that brings together the duo’s longtime collaborators, Jordan McLean of Antibalas on trumpet and TV on the Radio trombonist DaveSmootaSmith, along with Ross Bogan of Doom Flamingo and Lureto on organ. The result is an organic layering of a plethora of sounds that bridge the gap between the old and new. From the frenzied horns, bubbling basslines, sublime guitar arrangement and head-nodding drum grooves, the crew deliver a brilliant ensemble that keeps listeners locked from start to finish with its cross-genre pollination vibe.

The song also comes equipped with an animated music video created by band member Jack Powell (Opus Thimble), whose moving illustrations draw a subtle comparison to the great Terry Gilliam (Monty Python).

“Butcher Block” is taken from their forthcoming sophomore album Seconds (Color Red 3/31/23). Find more info HERE.
