High Nelson‘s new single “jpeg” is a heartfelt memoir to family, childhood memories and events that molded him. Inspired by his own life, raised by a single mother and extended family. He takes us back to the days of photo albums as opposed to jpeg files of the modern era. Over the sombre and somewhat soulful backdrop, he gives us a glimpse into his memories with vivid lines like “Close my eyes, got so many thoughts in the bank/trying to withdraw for change/recollections collected on Sundays“. The track is emotional and follows the progression of a young man who grew up fast in the moment with little time to process the emotions and memories that come with leaving the nest.

“jpeg” is a brilliant effort and quite relatable for lovers of conscious hiphop. He further adds that the track is the acknowledgment of where he came from and where he intends to go.
