Multi-faceted rapper/songwriter/visual artist Darian Smith Jr was born and raised in Hawthorne, California and fell in love with music and entertainment at a young age. He released his first mixtape at age 11 under a different moniker and continued to hone his art with more releases, collaborations and live performances.

His latest venture is the #DSMITHSATURDAY II series and the latest instalment is the video for the song “YAYA” featuring producer  The Most High Sav. Over a classic Marvin Gaye sample chopped over a smooth drum groove, Darian gives us a glimpse into his life’s journey and what makes him tick. The visual has a DIY feel and captures his laidback style and cool demeanor.

“KNOW ABOUT ME” is the second track we have and it’s also taken from his #DSMITHSATURDAYS II series. Produced by his longtime collaborator The MOST HIGH SAV, the record sees Darian reflecting on his growth as a young man and the many events that shaped him along the way. The production is sombre and soothing while Darian’s lyrics are relatable and candid.

The visual is quite distinct and uses the ongoing DIY theme and use of retro-effects and simple cut scenes and seamless transitions.
