During a concert at Ricochet Bar and Lounge, a midtown Miami club, Nas — citing the international art fair, Art Basel, as his inspiration — painted a picture onstage while performing “Made You Look”. The painting was obviously rushed, a bit abstract and not very good. Even Nas admitted as much saying, “My shit looks really fucking stupid right now.”

However, at the insistence of the show’s festivities, the painting was auctioned off for charity. Rashid Johnson, an artist sitting to the right of the stage, and Luis Gispert, a photographer and filmmaker, started a slight bidding war with the painting eventually going to Johnson for $14,000.

“That’s the first time I’ve ever sold art in my life,” Nas said. “That shit made me feel good.”
