The legendary Cut Chemist teams up with Edan and Mr Lif for the unorthodox visuals for their collaboration single titled “Metalstorm”.  The self directed video sees Cut employing various stop motion effects while projecting his guest features on various surfaces as he splices in different textures and old record covers.

“It’s the extension of a project I did in art school at UCLA 20 years ago,” say Cut Chemist. “The biggest challenge was the ‘arts and craft’ elements like cutting up their faces into pieces and using a can of air to blow them apart perfectly for the end of the verse. I only had one shot at it, so it had to be perfect.

“The other was projecting on actual smoke,” he adds. “That was probably the hardest thing to do since the smoke had to be thick enough to project on. I think that took an entire night to get right.”

“Metalstorm” serves as the sequel to “Storm” which was featured on Cut’s 2006 LP, The Audience’s Listening. This is the second leak off Die Cut, following the debut leak, “Work My Mind,” featuring Hymnal and his J-5 cohort, Chali 2na. Stay tuned for the March 2nd release of Die Cut, which is now available for pre-order via iTunesAmazon, and Google Play. The 17 track which also includes guest features from the likes of Biz Markie, Myka 9, Laura Darlington and more is also available for pre-order on CD and vinyl (2XLP) via Fat Beats.
