Talented singer/songwriter Cindy Zhang kicks off 2023 with this brilliant single “Far Too Close” which sees her collaborating with fellow Asian American R&B singer-songwriter, Alex Villoria. The track is rich and layered with a mix of sounds ranging from jazz/R&B/neo-soul and a dash of pop. The piano progressions are engaging and exude jazz improv aesthetics while the R&b drum grooves and warm textures really tie it all together. As expected, the duo do deliver the goods with their distinct vocal runs, Cindy’s lilting and airy vocal runs complement Alex’s slightly heavier vocal tone and the result is a blissful and soul-stirring love ballad that implores listeners not to waste love but make the best out of it.
