London-based quintet Blue Jar deliver their debut single “Blue Monday” to kick off the week. The multi-genre band, led by multi-instrumentalist Sam McGrail and vocalist Fiona Hamilton, have cut their teeth in the live music scene (both known for performing with Cable Street Collective), and now they have forged a new path with Blue Jar.

The single “Blue Monday” is a groovy jazz/comntemporary pop infused number with blaring guitar riffs, jazzy chords and upbeat Afrobeat-inspired grooves. Beneath this, the lyrics explore the emotional ache of knowing a relationship is at its end, but one is not mentally prepared to face the truth.  Hamilton delivers a stunning vocal performance reminiscent of early Lily Allen’s work. From her subtle tones, rich harmonies and presence, Hamilton embodies the pain with heartfelt and weary songwriting that listeners can feel.

The track was written by bandleaders multi-instrumentalist Sam McGrail and vocalist Fiona Hamilton; Eddi Goma provides the guitars, while bassist Maciek Mikulski and drummer Peter Udal complete the job.
