DJ DAMAGE is one of France’s most respected DJs/producers. Coming from the early 90’s era, he was part of renowned french DJ crew DOUBLE H (with Cut Killer, Zulu Nation’s Grandmaster Dee Nasty, and multi-DMC champions DJ Pone & Crazy B).

He released many mixtapes from mid to late 90’s on his own or with his young protégé DJ Pone (raised in the same town of Meaux, an hour from Paris) called “Independant Addict“. These underground/hard to find hip-hop jazz filled mixtapes were some of the most acclaimed cassettes of that golden era. He later set up with two friends (Mahdi and DJ Dusty) the trio known as JAZZ LIBERATORZ. Their first album, which included collaborations with Sadat X, Buckshot, Wildchild, Dudley Perkins, Aloe Blacc… received worldwide acclaim on the underground scene and sold 8000 units in Japan only. Two years later they released a remix EP including a new track with Mos Def. The inside story reveals that Mos Def, who was coming in Paris for a show, received three demands for featurings by different french producers, notably one by a famous rapper signed on a major label offering the most money. Mos Def did not know any of the producers, listened to each track and chose his favorite one, which was the Jazz Liberatorz track. A whole night rhyming, singing and freestyling led to the Jazz Libz/Mos Def collaboration that remains one of the group’s best memories.

While completing the forthcoming awaited second Jazz Libz album, DJ Damage works on his own solo album and has decided to release in the spirit of his mixtape series, an “Independant Addict” compilation every 6 months on CD.
