Con-Artist

Big Brody Ode (formerly known as Capital Ode) and longtime collaborator producer Drum Fu revisit their maiden joint mixtape, PerfectHairForever, with a remastered version that gets updated with the times. The lead track, “Con-Artist,” is a love letter to classic New York rap and a surgical diagnosis of the pursuit of dreams in the big city. Backed by Drum Fu’s airy production, comprising punchy boom-bap drums, and eerie textures that evoke urgency, Big Brody Ode takes listeners on a journey filled with hope, adoration, loss and a much-needed reality check. The icing on the cake is how he weaves several NY rappers/songs into the rhyme schemes with bars like

“With a business degree/Let you niggas try swindling me/‘cause you see me living T.O.N.Y. style
Top of New York,Holding my fort/If my money ever short/I’d have to take you to court/”
