Black Shawd steps into our playlist with this hard-hitting introductory track, “My Name Is Black Shawd.” The track boasts a thumping drum groove with cinematic textures that bled perfectly with Black Shawd’s declarative lyrics. South Carolina-based rapper, singer-songwriter, Keith B steps into the playlist with “PASSION,” unfiltered lyricism and raw confidence. The new single is an anthemic banger that is boisterous, uplifting and energetic all at once. Rory (of Rory & Mal podcast) returns to music with this new release, “STILL BE MINE,” featuring Lucky Daye and BLK ODYSSY. The modern R&B/soul infued record is a forward-thinking piece that blends the emotional intensity of neo soul with contemporary sounds. With Lucky Daye’s sublime vocal runs and BLK ODYSSY.’s expressive style, the track offers more than an alternative vibe but a heartfelt journey that carries emotional weight. Emerging rapper 730RS‘s new single “Who Are We” explores the underlying issue with perception, self-doubt, overconfidence and the unwavering reality of life. Over a dark, brass-laden backdrop, the emcee delivers a frank and unapologetic performance ripe with thought-provoking rhymes that question the nature of man. As UK artist Makola readies his forthcoming EP, he serves up the third single, “Lofty Dreams”. The track fuses soul/jazz elements with dancehall/afrowave rhythms underpinned by heartfelt storytelling. Here, Makola looks back on his childhood dreams and the journey of coming to terms with reality, growing and pushing on despite setbacks. “Grid Lock’d” is the newest effort from JRoberts, who teams up with Daniel Son and Camoflauge Monk. Over a dark and brooding backdorp of ominous keys, plucky chords, and punchy boombap drums, the emcees deliver solid bars with gritty, vivid storytelling. TX-based rapper/singer/songwriter Josh Porter laces his “CODY JAMES” and is ready to make his rounds. Over a solemn guitar-driven backdrop that fuses contemporary country music with pop and hip-hop, Porter delivers the tale of the everyday man on a mission to fulfil his life’s destiny and bring a smile to the faces of his loved ones.
“Buttas” is a conceptual track that finds Showrocka and Ansolu personifying the classic Timberland buttas on wax. Over a solemn soundscape, the emcees tell a tale through the eyes of the legendary boot brand. Listeners get thrown into the mix and meet different characters and witness events that can be hard to imagine from a different perspective. Producer Hommy DeVito connects with Vinnie Hoover for “Mornin'”. The tracks are a dark piano-driven piece about Hoover’s daily routine and the different antics he gets up to. The lyrics are unfiltered, off-kilter and hilarious. The track is taken from HOOVERnHOMMY VOL.2. NODA‘s new release, “Goldenboy,” is a reflective storytelling piece about the artist. Backed by a soulful contemporary soundscape with jazz elements and modern rap aesthetics, the rapper looks at his tumultuous childhood and the experiences that reshaped him into the man that he is today. Vancouver, B.C.-based multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Matt Storm returns to our site with his new single “System Breaks”. The track is bolstered by an atmospheric backdrop comprising rich guitar plucks, revered soaked textures underpinned by Storm’s distorted vocals. The track explores the pain of a man beaten by the modern-day system, but who refuses to lie down and keeps pushing on. The Epistle Of Zyaire Rosier is the debut EP from emerging rapper/songwriter Zyaire Rosier, and the lead single ” Beautiful” makes its way to our earshot. The soul/jazz-infused track finds Rosier reflecting on his parents and how their individual actions informed his childhood to the present. West Yorkshire producer Mr Boswell Thomas connects with the legendary Oxnard-based Declaime on his new single “Everyday Grind”. The track explores the everyday struggles that we all go through and how the cycle repeats, but in different ways. UK emcee Stunner stays focused on the grind in his new single “RAW,” backed by a solemn piano riff and sparse but punchy drum groove. The emcee details his daily activities and how he navigates distractions and hurdles as he moves closer to his goals. “Brimstone” is a new release from emerging rapper emoturmoil. The track is a dark, moody piece that finds the rapper reflecting on his past and the many events that reshaped his outlook on life. From surviving the streets, dealing with fairweather friends, and being conditioned by dysfunctionality and loss, he gives audiences the full picture. The track is the lead single for his forthcoming album, The Boy They Called IT, scheduled for a summer release. JackOutTheBox and rljah deliver a hard-hitting gem, “Cry Me A River,” in this week’s playlist. The production is jazzy and punchy, while the lyrics are insightful and graphic.”Drift Away” by emerging emcee Remark is an introspective piece that explores inner conflict and personal struggles. Against a dark, ominous backdrop underscored by punchy drums and strings, the emcee digs deep into his psyche and shows audiences what truly goes on within.
Houston, TX-based Christian Hip Hop/ Soul artist D’Vo returns with new single “FLOATIN DREAMZ,” a heartfelt track about finding true purpose and holding on to his faith in a world filled with iniquities and distractions. “No Filter” is an unfiltered and unapologetic track from emerging rapper Joe 410, who pours his all on wax. Against a soulful, vocal sample-driven soundscape, he unloads the emotional weight of losing his mother, while navigating a wold world where nothing is promised. He doesn’t hold back and delivers an emotional performance with gems like “Everybody got a due date, but what you do with your time is your true fate,” which underscores his mindset. Next is rising singer Rya, who enters our playlist with “Help Me Be,” a R&B/hiphop infused cut that explores what true love entails. Over a solid drum groove and ethereal soundscape comprising soothing keys and warm pads, Rya reminds a potential lover not to misuse the time they have together. Emerging rapper aneTix‘s new single “Stand Up Straight” explores the dark times in his past, dealing with addiction and self-defeat. Over an upbeat backdrop comprising moody textures and punchy drum grooves, aneTix runs through his journey from the darkness to the light. From the many times he faltered to the times he was given the much-needed mental boost by his sister and her children, which led to mental clarity to be a better person for himself and everyone around him. aneTix doesn’t shy away from honesty and delivers a heartfelt and unapologetic performance that everyone can relate to. The final track “LoveIt” by NappyHigh is a lofi/soul/hip-hop infused cut that features the legendary Blu and Ivan Ave. The production has a funk and psychedlic feela nd finds the emcees pouring adulations on that special someone while flexing their poetic license with wordplay and internal rhyme schemes.
