“Maybe Next Year” is the first song from emerging rapper Jean~Baptiste for 2025. The track is a soulful and reflective tune that centres around the rapper’s trials and tribulations, flaws, mistakes and the never-ending journey called life. Over a solemn vocal sample, Jean~Baptiste pens a heartfelt letter to himself and the audience, reminding them that regardless of the bad times, having a positive outlook is the way forward. Lines like Speaking on behalf of regret some can’t express theirs/RIP to what I once was I pay respect there/365 lets take some time and reflect here/Last year sure wasn’t it but no more maybe next year” underscore the positivity in his message.
