Based in the Washington, DC area, The Lucky So & Sos are carving a whole new path with their style of live music made up of jazz, funk, soul, Latin and hip-hop. The band’s latest release “Car 54” is a vivid account of police brutality against a Black man. Over the rousing rock-infused arrangement, lead vocalist MC Ardamus takes us into the mix of the action with his commanding vocals and mix of humour and charm. Despite that, he still adds that sense of urgency and uncertainty in that tense situation. The production also lends its strength to the topic with its off-beat and jagged arrangement echoing the chaos of someone in the position of wondering if this encounter with the police will cost him his life.

The So & Sos have been performing in and around Washington, DC since 2014. The band’s members are a diverse array of talents including an asylum lawyer, a Computer ScIence Ph.D. and an award-winning MC.

“Car 54” was co-produced, mixed and mastered by Grammy-winning producer/mixer/engineer Brian Forbes.
