VIDEO: Mr. Green ‘Live From The Streets’ Featuring Rime
Ok this isn’t the first time Mr Green’s been featured on Word Is Bond but this is hella dope. Rime, a notorious graffiti artist from Jersey, hooked up with Mr. Green for a ‘Live From The Streets’ episode:
This episode I made a beat out of footage that our boy Rime took while he was in Miami for Art Basel. It’s the first time we’ve done anything like this (used someone else’s footage) and..
FREENESS: SPcifyk – City Talk (France)
OK I first heard of SPcifyk many moons ago (18 months? Something like that) with some free remixes he released but I never followed it up. So today on a whim I googled his name and found this full length release, which was put out quite a while back, of remixes and instrumentals, full of his signature emphatic snare and atmospheric loops. Dope. The Parisian is real elusive so if you have any info on him please, please drop a comment.
VIDEO: Freddie Joachim & Question – Mellow Orange Vinyl Podcast Vol. 2 (Mix)
Ah this is dope. Freddie Joachim and Question, no strangers to Word Is Bond, come together to do this dope jazzy mix for their label Mellow Orange. Each producer took half an hour.
Also check the ‘Find Another Way Revisited’ track they put up about a month ago. Love the Miguel Atwood Ferguson/Carlos Nino sample from his Dilla tribute in both that and the original. These two just mad dope.
MIX: Druh Slawek – Sample Some Of This, Sample Some Of That (Volumes 1 – 84)
Ah this is SO SICK! If you are like me and you love looking for or spotting original samples of beats then here is an Aladdin’s Cave if I ever saw one.
Druh Slawek is THE conniseur of Hip Hop, Funk, Soul and Jazz in Poland, a legend in Polish Hip Hop circles and is rumoured to own between 10 and 12 thousand vinyls. The ‘Sample Some Of This, Sample Some Of That’ series is a series of mixes where he plays original records and then the tracks that sample them. There are 84 in total, which..
AUDIO: Tall Black Guy – Mini Therapy Chops EP
Ok, this is nice. A couple of dope tracks from production guru Tall Black Guy, who has since been knighted the last time we mentioned him (don’t believe me, check his Twitter).
This album is a continuation on the Therapy Chops theme. “Sweet Europe” and “Love to The World” are tracks that I made in late 2011. They have recieved great reviews worldwide.
FREENESS: Ed Sheeran & Yelawolf – The Slumdon Bridge EP
Ok this is a quite interesting collaboration between two fairly big artists. I have to say I really like Ed Sheeran, he is one of the most original and intriguing guys in the UK alternative scene (check this vid that J dropped a couple of years ago) and has worked with a load of MCs before, including an entire EP (labeled The Collaboration EP; his story is really good, the work he put in to get to where he is is almost Hollywood-esque. Yelawolf is probably better known since he’s a..
