This week’s playlist is a special mix that brings together a range of musical styles and artists from across the globe in one special place. We start off wth Illinois-based singer/songwriter Taquirah, who serenades us with an hypnotic cut entitled “The Night.” The alternative R&B/soul offering is ripe with mesmerizing vocal runs and is produced by RushDee. The combination of Saul Goode and The Musalini on “Like Like” feels like a fever dream. The pair craft a sublime and atmospheric jam that evokes nostalgia with a touch of surrealism. Canadian singer/songwriter LOV thrills us with “G.O.S,” an alterntaive R&B/soul piece that explores self-healing, love, and the power of divine femininity. Her sultry vocal tone is the centrepiece, effortlessly melting into the ears and soul over a solemn, soothing backdrop. President Dell taps into the 90s on “The Same 24,” which flips the same sample from the classic Ma$e record but with a modern twist. The rapper asks the pertinent question about how far you are willing to go to achieve your dreams in a short time.  “Balance” is a solid lyrical display from Showrocka, who connects with fellow lyrical titans Cory Gunz and MICKEY FACTZ. The result is a tandem of wordplay, expressive flows and vivid verbal imagery that highlights the power of lyricism. MrZnote and Morse Code unveil their new collaboration “Blackstone,” a piano-laden track without drums and raw, unfiltered and playful lyrics. 730RS enters our playlist with “We Already Made It,”  a track that celebrates the aftermath of the daily struggles and the power of self-validation and belief, while C-Wil‘s “bird bath” explores a triad of emotions. The emcee breaks down the blurred lines that thread through confidence, self-doubt, and the human ego, and shows that concept-driven raps are still worth the salt. Bagboy Blu shows his disappointment with fake friends and his appreciation for his day ones in his new single “Pistol”. Vienna-born singer/songwriter KRISTII pours her “heart” on wax with her new release, a heartfelt modern R&B track that explores the ups and downs of blossoming love and the pain of losing it. Maddog McGraw flips the script with this steamy graphic track, “Right Here,” made specifically for adult ears. Over a dark and moody backdrop, the emcee details his private sexual adventure and the pleasure he gives to the women who tag along for the ride. VENMC continues the lecture in “A History Lesson:, Pt. 2,” where he gives listeners the events that helped shape modern America, from the labour of slaves, taxation from the British colonists, the push back to self-actualization of the United States of America as a sovereign nation and the current capitalistic state of affairs. Hobo JoJo and Knottie deliver two sides of the same coin in “Heads or Tails.” The track is built on a dark, recurring synth arrangement, with urgency, and lyrics that explore raw human resilience, the power of faith, and the basic survival instincts that drive people to succeed. “STATEMENT” pairs Mannu and NR10, emcees who rap in English and  Portuguese, respectively. The aptly titled track finds the emcees in rare form, effortlessly trading bars over a hard-hitting soundscape. TC steps into the fray with “upgraded.” The song has been in his stash for a while, and now comes to the light. The beat is rich, punchy and crisp while TC’s uplifting bars take precedence. FNF Kenno / tjonez [the producer.] brings the “$weetest Thing” to our earshot with this love-laden piece that explores true love. The production is ethereal and atmospheric while the lyrics are heartfelt. PAX, the humanoid, highlights the power of youthful exuberance and imagination in his new single “Touch The Moon.” Inspired by the innocent utterings of his 6-year-old son, Pax crafts an uplifting anthem for quest lovers who want to experience something life-changing.  Producer SlimYungMan connects with emerging rapper Coberzz for “Marithe +,” a hard-hitting cinematic anthem that highlights the rapper’s offbeat rap style and animated persona. The track serves as Coberzz’s first single for the year. Seattle-based experimental hip-hop act Paradame returns with “To The Grave,” an ominous concept track about true loyalty and the extreme lengths she will go to protect the dark secrets from becoming public. JOVX‘s “Written (Radio Edit)” is an insightful afrobeats/R&B-infused cut that explores the journey of a young kid from childhood dreams to adulthood, where reality is starkly different. Over a smooth guitar-laden backdrop, JOVX expresses the power of faith, fate, and manifestation. Defer Brothers raise the ante with “Sound The Alarm,” an anthemic jam that is anchored on aspirational and motivational themes. Over a high-octane, synth-brass-laden backdrop, the artist delivers uplifting gems that aim to raise confidence and energy in the listeners. Singer/songwriter Carmen Jones jumps into the 80s R&B space with “Heartbeat,” a retro-tinged cut that talks about everlasting love. The track is built on a classic drum groove, plucky elements with lush textures underpinned by her powerful vocals. Emerging artist Counttstaxx drops off “Crazy,” an insightful track about the pressures of the daily grind. 3PM showcases his verbal prowess over Eminem’s classic track “My Name Is.” Revamped as “My Name Is 3 PM,”  the emcee delivers a flurry of off-kilter and engaging raps filled with unorthodox wordplay and rhyme schemes. Singer/songwriter Tan Brown shares her candid thoughts in her new single “S4TEOTW,” a heartfelt piece about inner peace and self-healing. Netherlands-based rapper WETHAGOD enters our playlist with “TIHIW,” a reflective track that highlights the journey of an artist who slowly finds his footing in a cold world.
