San Jose Bay area-based Lil Rip enters our playlist with this anthemic piece “Mint Condition”. Over the brooding and bass-heavy backdrop, the rapper takes us on a mission as he weaves through several choices

Emerging rapper Mari the 5th takes time to reflect on the current state of life in “Adrenochrome”. Backed by a soulful and sombre backdrop, the emcee goes for the jugular with his energetic flow and vivid lyricism that dwell on the ups and downs of life.

Toronto, Canada-based 6-piece The Free Label enters our playlist with “Blue Suede”, a slick funk-soul track that is underpinned by rich alluring melodies and sublime vocal runs that draw audiences in. The production is groovy, soul-stirring and exudes pure summer nostalgia.

Jusmaccinn and Cassius Clifford‘s “Is what it is” is a reflective tune that explores their life’s journey, the ups and downs, the unpredictable nature of life and the fortitude to accept it for what it is.

Ponyc and Showrocka bring us “The Re-Introduction”, a hard-hitting posse cut that brings back the culture of verbal jousting amongst a host of rappers ut to showcase their skills. Gen. Stasia – “Major”.

Emerging independent rapper Gen. Stasia enters our playlist with “Major”. The anthemic tune is a showcase of her edgy lyrical style and her resilient spirit in this male-dominated space. Backed by the thumping backdrop, Gen. Stasia proceeds to show the detractors that she is not playing around.

 

 

Kaemani – “Say You’ll Stay”.

 

Singer/songwriter Kaemani caught our attention with his new single “Say You’ll Stay”. The piano-driven piece explores the trepidations that come with finding love and the unsure feelings but after going through the rollercoaster he finally concludes accepting how true it can be.

DemarcoTheMan drops a new single “himcrowlaw” taken from his forthcoming album Bad Weather for Carts. The track has a sombre and solemn vibe and showcases the rappers’ off-kilter rap style and expressive flow.

 

 

Jah Born, Ya Msanii – “Grateful (444)” (feat. C-Ri$h)

Jah Born and Ya Msanii share the new single “Grateful (444)” featuring C-Ri$h. The track is a reflective piece that anchors on appreciation for loved ones and the small mercies life brings upon us. The production is soulful and punchy while the lyrics are relatable and well-crafted.

GIF DA VET  is a veteran power rapper/producer from Washington DC whose new single “Feel The Fire”  caught our attention. Over a soulful sample and punchy grooves, he speaks on the positive attributes of good women and finding true love.

Hard-working rapper Grabbz drops his new single “I Hustle Baby”  which also features Drew Millz. The production has a dark and moody feel and is undermined by vivid lyricism anchored on the spirit of the hustler out to get his money.

 

JoBlare – “Odyssey”

Emerging rapper JoBlare caught our ears with his new release “Odyssey”. The reflective tune talks about self-doubt, depression and how some people go out sad. The production has an ethereal and soulful vibe and his lyrics are engaging too.

 

 

Ice Meez – “Show Me Love” (feat. Jelani Harris)

In his new release “Show Me Love” featuring Jelani Harris, Northern California-based rapper Ice Meez pours his heart on wax. The production is soulful and relaxing, showcasing his vulnerable side and the melodic chorus adds an extra emotional element.

 

 

Kalisway – “Sugar”.

Emerging Canadian artist Kalisway brings something refreshing with a touch of nostalgia in her new single “Sugar”. The track has a retro funk-pop feel with a bit of soul-pop and her rich distinct vocal runs are amazing. The song is lifted from her new album A Kid From Toronto.

 

 

 

A.I.M x Novelist – “Diligence”.

UK rappers A.I.M and Novelist team up for “Diligence”. The anthemic tune is about consistency and their resilient spirit. The song is taken from A.I.M’s anticipated mixtape, Composure Lost, Composure Found.

 

 

Gregory Da Silva – “Change Has Come – Re-Mastered”

Canadian rapper/songwriter Gregory Da Silva helps us close this week’s playlist with “Change Has Come – Re-Mastered”. The song is a remastered version and sees the rapper exploring his daily struggles and how the journey of life has changed him.
