The hard-working music composer Michael Kapoulas, aka Chill4est connects with DertyLee for this beautiful piece titled “Shine.” The track has a blissful uplifting summertime vibe, and it’s punctuated by rich guitar licks, warm textures and an engulfing bass-driven groove. Next is Velvet One‘s “Coffe for Lovers,” a playful modern jazz piece that takes audiences into a comfort zone with its dynamic and progressive chord arrangement and layered textures. French beatmaker EisZ eases us into a “Velvet Night” in this sublime, sexy tune. The track is led by prominent guitar licks, sultry piano chords, and soft grooves that create a warm ambiance perfect for lovers. WELTSCHMERZ enters this week’s playlist with “Aerosoul,” a summertime song with warm vibes and nostalgic aesthetics. The layered instrumentation is brilliant, and the combination of punchy boombap drums and subtle vocal samples adds that 90s hip-hop touch to it. “A Dream Inside of a Dream” is a guitar-led lofi piece from Lucid Whisper. The producer fuses contemporary sounds with a touch of modern-day lo-fi styles that highlight his musical versatility. “Spring Gems” is a solid Jazzhop piece from Starflakes and Lofi Alumni, a production duo who bring their A-game to the boards. With its rich Phoenix Epiano chords, lush upright gentleman piano riffs, slick guitar licks, sparse drums and subtle vocal samples, the track delivers on its promise and offers audiences a warm and enticing soundtrack for the upcoming warm season.
Multi-talented music producer Joel Martin Cowen enters this week’s playlist with “Sickness,” a dark genre-bending piece that strays from the usual. From the use of trap drums, house-inspired piano chords, dark electronic synths and off-kilter sound design, the producer switches the vibe on the playlist with this unexpected banger. Newselph drops off his latest single, “Reality (Times Is Hard),” and we are here for it. The track is a smooth and uplifting piece with summery vibes and boombap elements. The arrangement is somewhat layered and cinematic, while the progression of the keys, off-beat textures and pads all add up to create a sublime backdrop perfect to reflect on. “Step Outside” finds Spective and Nathan Kersey-Wilson teaming up to craft this retro R&B-tinged lo-fi lofi-soul piece that literally takes audiences outdoors. The track has a sturdy drum groove, a sublime bassline and horns that evoke nostalgia and bittersweet memories Ian Ewing, Shopan and saint rumi connect for “El Camino,” a playful track that is inspired by L.A’s cityscapes, the sunshine and the good times. The punchy drums are well-crafted, and the improv jazz elements add that extra oomph to the dustiness of the track. London-based producer ARPRAXIS brings an experimental touch to the playlist with “The Trytone Hack,” a synth-driven track that has elements of modern pop with dark experimental musical styles.
Next, we have Danish music producer Xfarm, whose downbeat/lofi-infused style gets highlighted on their new release “Life… I want it.” The track is a collaboration with Belgian pianist Wouter Dewit and is led by minor piano chords, rumbling basslines, and a soft, laidback drum break beat, which all come together to create a solemn ambiance.
