Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This is a segment where we look at some exceptional visuals from various acts around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades, through the 90s and 2000s, and it has taken flight from multi-million dollar budget music videos to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

MODENINE, MAKA and BLACK INTELLIGENCE- “KO”

“KO” is the single from legendary Nigerian emcee Modenine, producer Black Intelligence and singer/songwriter Maka‘s new collaborative project entitled, Thereafter. The track is a soulful/boombap infused piece that showcases Modenine’s unmatched wordplay alongside Maka’s soul-gripping melodic runs. Mamas Gun – “Food For The Flames”.

UK five-piece soul outfit Mamas Gun unveil the eye cathcy visuals for their song “Food For The Flames.” The track is a modern jazz/soul piece that echoes classic tunes from Motown and the Northern Soul era. The rich instrumentation is ripe with lofty guitar licks, warm strings with soft drum grooves that rise to a climax on the chorus section. Led by frontman Andy Platts, he delivers a thoughtful and soul-gripping performance that dives into the tug and pull of keeping a relationship alive. From the dark moments to the bright memories and the in-betweens, the band take listeners through the ebbs and flows. The accompanying visual has a dark and cinematic feel with an unusual set piece and recurring motif of flames circling the screen. Use of retro TVs, grainy VHS effects and quick performance cut scenes are also implemented and add a distinct touch to the track.

Mamas Guns band members include Andy Platts – the songwriting frontman with the golden falsetto; Drummer Chris Boot – the band’s backbone, supplying the heaviest grooves with a jazz player’s lightness of touch; Bass player Cameron Dawson, flowing and fearless echoing the spirit of James Jamerson but with a melodic sound uniquely his own; Terry Lewis, a guitarist whose taste, feel bring a warm old school validity, and last but by no means least; Dave Oliver, a dynamic keys player whose profound command of the piano, wurlitzer and hammond organ joins the dots from jazz to gospel to soul with ease.

 

 

Pep Love – “Generous”.

Pep Love   from the legendary Oakland, California-based Hieroglyphics Crew  is dropping a nw solo project, Acres Of Diamonds, but in the interim, he shares the new single “Generous.” The 1 minute track is a quick masterclas in lyrical display from the OG rapper. Over a plucky and punchy  and spaced out backdrop, Pep Love delivers smooth flows with a variety of cadences to match his off-beat and unpredictable word play and verbal mechanics. The visual style is straight to the point and focuses on the emcee in his element. The album will be a solely physical release (on vinyl and cassette format) for the collectors and the connoisseurs.

Young Zee – “Shudder Island”.

Young Zee from the legendary New Jersey group Outsidaz returns with “Shudder Island.” The track sees Young Zee connecting with Austrian beat-smith Koaraktor who laces him with an off-beat soundscape punctuated by solemn chords and punchy drums. Here, Young Zee delivers his characteristic no-holds-barred, off-kilter raps laced with vivid lyrical imagery that goes deep nto his pysche. The title is a ode to the film of the same name and the visual captures Young Zee and some folks going off the hinges on an undisclosed location. Listen to the full project here. Kingdom Kome x DV Alias Khrist – “No LLove”.

Kingdom Kome and DV Alias Khrist drop off the visuals for their song “No LLove.” The Lo-Life delegates bring home their lyrical skills and the long lasting Lo culture to the forefront of this track. The track produced by RUEN has a solemn and cinematic feel and is punctuated by insightful bars about snakes and perpetrators from both rappers. The visual is shot in black and white and uses performance shots of the emcees with subtle visual effects. “No LLove” will appear on Kingdom Kome’s next solo album (to drop in early 2026).

 

Souk Sessions and Mbsaidit– “Everyone Falls”.

 

Souk Sessions set the stage for UK singer/songwriter Mbsaidit to showcase his skills.  The platform is a way for sising artists to step into the forefront and Mbsaidit came through with “Everyone Falls.” The Afro-fusion/R&B track is undrpinned by hypnotic melodic runs and a catchy hook while the visual is shot in a desert-inspired location with Mbsaidit at the center of it all.

 

NF – “FEAR”.

Multi-genre singer/rapper/songwriter NF explores the concept of “FEAR” in his new release. The contemporary pop/R&B piece breaks the mould with forward thinking musical arrangement, heartfelt lyrics and a soul-stirring performance from NF who pours his all on wax. He gives listeners a glimpse into his life on the track which talks about inner darkness and demons that try to hold him back. The visual style is a blend of motifs and set pieces that tap into the theme of the track and brings the words to life.

Kevin Ross – “This Winter”.

 

Award-winning singer-songwriter Kevin Ross sets the tone for “This Winter” in his latest release. The love track is a classic R&B/soul piece that pays homage to that special someone and the true love that binds their hearts together as one. The visual is celebration of love and happiness that comes with the holidays.

 

 

 

 

DJ Exes – “Criollo Vernacular””

Miami hip-hop veteran DJ Exes enters our playlist with his new release “Criollo Vernacular.” The lyric-dense track showcases raw, unfiltered lyricism over cinematic and punchy soundscapes.  The title is an ode to the vibrant sauce used in a variety of dishes in Puerto Rican cuisine and also DJ Exes dynamic flow and stylish lyrics that seamlessly blend English and Spanish together. The visuals directed by Box-Lo shows DJ Exes comparing the way he cooks up dope rhymes in the studio with the way a master chef crafts motuh watering delicacies in the kitched. Either way, they are both cooking up a storm for the audience. “Criollo Vernacular” is the first leak from the DJ Exes & Slamming Gavel Music collaboration album The Gavel & The Guillotine which dropped 11/11.

 

 

Boj x Mavo – “Diamonds”.

Nigerian Afrobeats super star Boj and rising singer Mavo team up for “Diamonds.” The mid-tempo jam is as stylish and expressive as they come and showcases the duo’s distinct vocal style and undeniable Nigerian roots. The visual style uses a lot of performance shots, engaging cut scenes and transitions that focuses on the duo. The track is part of Boj’s double single release which includes “Contraband” featuring Olamide . The singles come ahead of his sixth studio album Duplicity, out December 5.

 

Nec Nymbl x Coherent – “Alpha Rhythm”

 

 “Alpha Rhythm” is the new release from producer/rapper/DJ Nec Nymbl and rapper Coherent. The track is a hard-hitting cut laced with menacing soundscape and dark textures and raw lyricism that provokes the mind. Nothing is spared as the lyrical onslght is filled with edgy and off-kilter wordplay and griping imageries. Also joining them is Cincinnati (Ohio) emcee Aura Da Prophet who commands notice on the second verse.
