Have I got something for you this week… Hailing from the Windy City is Spocket, an innovative fusion band that delivers nothing but straight dopeness.
There are many things that stand out about this band. They are young, but definitely skilled. Their sound is smooth and clean. Most commendable is their invaluable ability to mix elements of funk, rock, and jazz. The song’s opening brings up thoughts of a classic jazz big band sound, but then we are introduced to a mellow groove that floats in a space between funk, rock, and smooth jazz. All of these elements create a complex piece of music that has just as much sophistication as it does wide audience appeal.
