French beatmaker ProleteR is a multi-faceted producer who is renowned for his work in the international electro-swing, chill-hop hop and swing-hop scenes. His recent release is the 11-track album Temperamental Cats followed by a tour announcement titled Swing Hop Party.

The album opens with the jazz/soul boombap track “Ever” which comprises pitched-up melodic vocal samples with warm strings and punchy drums. This is followed by “By Your Side” and “Transparency,” two tracks that continue the producer’s love for chopping up retro jazz samples. From blaring horns, sublime vocal samples, groovy rhythms and rumbling basslines. The fun continues on the anthemic “Fallen King” with a familiar sample ripe with rich textures, punchy grooves plus an unforgettable horn arrangement. We also get the playful “Kermesse” which taps into the roaring 20s jazz scene while “Fool for a Lifetime” brings Japanese producer Takada Fu and together they deliver an awesome and heartwarming soulful piece. One of the few vocal tracks is “First Love” featuring Napoleon Da Legend who lends his pen to the soulful track as he pays homage to Hip-Hop.

Overall, Temperamental Cats is a brilliant body of work that brings the past to the present with an eclectic musical twist.
