Kingston’s super lyricist Nomad Carlos returns with his solo debut Element Of Surprize which is an 11 track body of work that explores the rapper’s life in totality. The project sees him working with various producers ranging from Mordecai, Chosen 1 Beats, The Quarter Inch Kings, Ro Data, and more while features include Five Steez, Falcon Outlaw, etc.
The project opens up with the cinematic “Blood, Smoke & mirrors” which draws listeners into the rapper’s world. He breaks down his frustrations with snakes and the underhanded policies of the government while reaffirming his determination to stay on course. On “Rare Breed” he delivers an authoritative performance ripe with an OG aesthetic looking at the sheep that have gone astray from the truth. On the Mordeica produced “Solace,” he goes into an introspective mode with reflective lyrics on being true to oneself regardless of the circumstances. It’s all not gloom as he dives into some sensitive topics like love on cuts like “Shanice” and “Reciprocate.”
Element Of Surprize is quite a ride and offers listeners a nuanced view of the self-proclaimed ‘Half Yankee, Half Yardie’ who traverses between the states and his hometown of Kingston.
