Maryland emcee and Creative Minds founder Jerrod Bowen present “Sound Odyssey”, a soul-jazz collaboration with Keylow and Physical Graffiti. The track serves as the lead single from Bowen’s new album Thelonious, named after the jazz pianist Thelonious Monk. “Sound Odyssey” has a smooth and soulful soundscape made up of mellow and warm keys, pads and heavenly horn stabs layered over a tight drum groove. This is all underpinned by the brilliant rap performances from Bowen, Keylow and Physical Graffiti who bring their distinctively unique styles to the table.

The Unscene productions-directed music video is engaging as well and makes use of performance shots with cinematic cut scenes of all parties involved.

Thelonious also features guest appearances from Mr. Ruckus, Crown Vic, & Klassic Soul, all representing the Creative Minds brand. The entire album is produced by Washington, D.C. beatsmith K-Murdock, who fuses golden-era sounds with live instrumentation. Murdock also produced Bowen’s debut album Days Of Grace (Spotify). “Sound Odyssey” is named after a record store in Bowen’s hometown of Ocean City and interpolates the jazz classic “Summertime”, as the lead single of an album filled with nods to the golden era of hiphop which K-Murdock calls “a labor of love”. Thelonious is out now on Creative Minds LLC.
