Next up is the title track which raises the ante with its seamless fusion of blues-rock-rap with a contemporary aesthetic. Backed by punchy drum grooves and lush country guitars, the rapper breaks down the never-ending blues that come during the wintertime and juxtaposes it with the joys of the holiday season showing how two opposites can exist in the same space. The cherry on top is the way the melodic chorus complements the verses and plays off each other and of course, the customary guitar solo which helps raise the ante and adds depth to the track. The project closes out with the sombre “All My Life” which centers on yearning for true love from that special someone who will always be there. Once again, the blend of commanding raps and rich melodies plays a huge part and while the emcee shares his thoughts
“hard times feel a little better/We weaving through this weather, you know we giving up never/This moves we making so clever”.
The singer adds his own 2 cents to the matter with an emotionally powerful performance. The record sure hits a new high with its dynamic arrangement and use of excellent scratching and solo guitar riffs that raise it to a new plateau. It’s a solid way to close the project as it brings some hope to the sad theme of the previous songs.
Overall Winter Blues is an eclectic and engaging body of work that breaks from the norm and gives listeners a taste of different worlds with a relatable subject matter.
