Canadian singer/songwriter Jenna Deagle-Potter aka FAWNA shares her new project Vol. 2, a 6 track project that sees her exploring themes ranging from self-reflection, discovery, and vulnerability. The project is anchored on genre-bending and cinematic soundscapes underpinned by FAWNA’s rich melodic runs and heartfelt songwriting.

The first track “NOLA” explores the complexities of being viewed as different by everyone else and the journey to self-discovery. Here, FAWNA talks about finding strength by expressing raw vulnerability and emotional growth. The track produced by Cobrayama. is embellished with a brooding pad arrangement, surreal textures, and crunchy downtempo drums, underpinned by FAWNA’s hypnotic vocal runs and an insightful verse from fellow musician Ero Sin.

The following track, the self-produced “ENERGY” sees FAWNA slowly building her inner strength in the face of adversity. She details her growth over the plucky and atmospheric soundscape with lines like “What would you think I would do? I’m just a mirror reflecting the truth/I leave the petty for the weak, I got divine energy.” Throughout the track, audiences feel the emotional energy coursing through her voice as FAWNA reaches her final form. “HAWK” featuring singer/songwriter Blanche exudes a nostalgia-inducing and dreamy aesthetic that takes listeners into a comfort zone. With both FAWNA and Blanche’s distinct vocal runs, subtle harmonic arrangements and heartfelt lyrics, the duo embody the spirit of a woman who knows her worth and has broken free from manipulative forces that try to keep her down.

The second half of the EP begins with the solemn “DISPOSITION,” comprising bright chords, hushed drums and a pulsating bassline underpinned by FAWNA’s passionate performance. The track underscores her sultry and feminine energy as she continues to shine with poetic lines like“You’re seeing blind / Wake up before you into the light / Wild and I’m stoned / Take myself home / Still as the night / Silence is gold.” FEELS” is a brilliant duet with Ero Sin and together they deliver a 1-2 love-drunk punch ripe with adulations, affection and passion. The production here is bright, spirited and bouncy and the seamless vocal interaction is undeniable. The final track “FLUTTER” starts with a filtered and dreamy synth that slowly blends into FAWNA’s soul-gripping and breathy vocals. Here, she brings the project to a close with a timeless and uplifting message of self-empowerment. Using her experiences as the focal point, she shows us the final form of her spirit carved and reinforced by the hardships she endured and survived. Blanche also appears on the track, embellishing it with her sublime background vocals.

Overall, Vol. 2, is an incredible journey that follows FAWNA through a cycle of emotions, trauma and ultimately a destiny-fulfilling transformation.
