Pittsburgh, PA-based rapper Ev Malone returns to the forefront with this heartfelt single, “Flowers.” The track is a solemn and reflective look at life and the never-ending strife that comes with it. Backed by a sombre, acoustic guitar-driven backdrop, Ev Malone pours his all on wax as he runs through the pain that comes with loss, regrets, and existential problems. His stance is more of acknowledging these things, but the core aim was to remind us of our true power, which is hope, resilience, and the ability to change what we can control. Lines like “let’s soar the sky, they’ll try to shoot you down, they wrong things get glorified, don’t let them count you out, because I’m telling you there’s more inside, so open up your mind and let the light in, sunroof, invite it, Bluetooth, we vibin, I got you, you got me, me stuck together, hyphen, shoutout to Ri, cause now we, shinen bright like diamonds,” help underscore the positive attitude behind the pain.
