L.A meets Toronto on this new collaboration between producer/DJ who goes by the moniker Clayjay and rapper TOBi. After meeting via the internet, the two talented individuals linked up in person to craft their debut collab titled “Ride”. The song itself is a solid display of the chemistry between both cats as Clayjay cooks up a summery, upbeat backdrop for TOBi’s mercurial flow.  “Ride”  also pulls heavily from Clayjay’s obsession with sound design, a densely layered combination of clattering sounds and heavy drums for TOBi to tap-dance over.

TOBi continues to develop his lyricism and tell his story over Clayjay’s distinctive production. Fresh off of having a song featured in the season two finale of Insecure (“Hidden Fences”) and launching the lead single from his upcoming project (“All Day”), “Ride” showcases his versatility as a rapper and singer.

Although the two are from vastly different backgrounds, Clayjay was born and raised in San Francisco while TOBi was born in Nigeria (he moved to Canada when he was about 9 years of age), the two have formed a brilliant musical partnership I think will stand the test of time.

The duo are currently working on a steady stream of new music and touring the west coast together in support of SG Lewis.
