Toronto-based R&B duo Chrome Daphne (made up of childhood friends Ben and Chris) brings a refreshing take on future R&B/funk with contemporary bedroom pop elements in their new single “Stuck (On You).” Bolstered by plucky guitar licks, ethereal pads, and a smooth drum groove, the duo deliver a soul-stirring performance comprising airy melodic runs and soft, warm tones that linger on. The track explores the aftermath of the abrupt end of a relationship and the various thoughts that come up every now and then. Inspired by Ben’s real life, where he went through the rigmarole of holding on to someone who is already gone, the track looks at the trappings of constant yearning for the past and how it colours one’s life.
