Uprising New Orleans Louisiana-born, Saint Louis County, Missouri-raised rapper Almightygang Reece makes his entry on our site with his new album No Introduction. The 12-track body of work dives into topics ranging from friendship, loyalty, street codes, love and aspirational themes. The production is quite moody, dark and has a lot of emo-trap aesthetics to match.

“Overup” is the lead track that aims to bring listeners closer to Reece’s world. The production is cinematic and hard-hitting and forms the perfect backdrop for his street-savvy lyrics and no holds barred lyrics that see him reminding the opposition that he is not one to play with. This is followed by “Long Day”, a sombre piano-driven beat that lays the foundation for Reece’s heartfelt lyrics. He talks about his daily struggles and how hard he works to secure his bag regardless of the detractors that come out of the woodwork to stifle his progress. Lines like “I play hard but I work harder/I’m doing this for my daughter, I be damned if she didn’t know her father/It’s been kinda crazy, opps trying to eradicate me, Feds taking pictures saying they see me, steady trying to navigate me” paint his thoughts vividly. On the track“Make A Way”, Reece looks deep into the grind and how it often affects his mental as he tries to stay positive but so many negative elements surround him. As the title suggests, he acknowledges the lack of opportunities and the crab-in-a-barrel mentality that surrounds him but he still has to make a way out of it.

Reece gets sombre and reflective on “Greater Than”, a track made up of mellow guitar riffs, solemn pads and thick 808-driven drums. He looks at the many lessons that made him tick and sums it up with the following lines “Sometimes shit don’t go right but I don’t Fuck around/Discipline, I’m trying to teach myself right now/Didn’t believe in vibrations, I take these drugs in moderation/She give me head, that’s a good sensation”.The story telling continues on “Star Struck”, where Reece talks about loyalty and friendship and how easy people can turn on you in a split second. He also talks about taking accountability for his fledgling love life and adds an emotional plea to his girl. “One in a Million” is a mix of insight and bravado as Almighty Reece delivers his thoughts with a rich melodic flow and evocative lyrics like “I pray to God that is why I always feel I’m gonna be protected/ They dug the opps up and dropped him off, I hope they got the message/No,I don’t believe the reverend, safety off, trigger finger hold steady, when I’m riding through the city gotta keep the blicky with me”.

“Love Addict” is an emotional trap track that shows Reece’s vulnerable side as he deals with personal loss and the pain that comes after the fact. He talks about how addictive love can be and it is as bad as any drug from the street. “Concrete” is another hard-hitting street-savvy track that breaks down the G-code and Reece’s daily activities as he moves through his stomping grounds. The track is upbeat, bright and quite engaging as the rapper goes forth with fiery graphic raps with no hooks. “To Be Myself” is a tale of true love and we see Reece pouring adulations on his boo and reminding us that he doesn’t need a gang to stand solid on his toes. The project closes out with “In Shape” and “The Rookie”, the former is a vibrant guitar-driven track that is a pure display of bravado and fun while the latter has smooth and soulful textures and soft drums and once again sees Reece flexing his rap skills and stunting on the chicks.

Overall, Almightygang Reece’s No Introduction is a cohesive and somewhat explosive look into the young man’s world in just 32 minutes. He is boastful, reflective, remorseful and introspective all at once and gives listeners different sides to his persona.
