Horace Tapscott Ode to the Pharaoh Vol 1 and 2
Black Classical podcasts relating to Horace Tapscott, The Union of God's Musicians and Artists Ascension, The Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra and Nimbus West.
Like Van Gogh before him, Horace Tapscott genius thinker and talented musician and composer never really got the acclaimed success that he truly deserved.
This weeks post is dedicated to one of my favourite artists ever… If you can’t be arsed reading all my babble you can jump to the podcasts here for Volume One or here for Volume Two.
Around 1994 I was at a record fair can’t remember where when I come across this guy who was flogging a job lot of Flying Dutchman LPs for £50. I didn’t really know a lot about Flying Dutchman other than a few Gil Scott, Oliver Nelson and Leon Thomas LPs but what I did know about the Mayor Carl B and I wanted that and it was in the pile along with some other talky LPs by Peter Hamill, John Carter and Bobby Bradford and a record by Horace Tapscott ‘The Giant Awakened’.
As I said I only really wanted the Carl B one and offered him 30 shooters for it, he said ok and as it was the end of the day he chucked the rest in too, kind gent

Big up mr black thanks for the props much appreciated bro!
word, this is so key and appreciated! had the pleasure of seeing passing strange (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0198891/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast) for the first time here in new york and was blown away by the music- tapscott composed for it and PAPA people performed it. note that the film was made by black larry clark, btw- not the dude who did kids. in any event, thanks so much for compiling this excellent resource!
