Kowhaii – “Something Special”

Kowhaii highlights their latest release “Something Special” as the month comes to a halt. The track is a bittersweet piece with nostalgiac vibes and is bolstered by a bright soulful texture, slick acoustic guitar arrangement with a smooth bassline-driven groove and  warm horns and a soothing vocal sample to complete the job.

 

 

DertyLee – “Ocean Eyes”

DertyLee‘s “Ocean Eyes” is a mellow and somewhat hypnotic track that blends modern soul with lofi bedroom pop aesthetics. The layered instrumentation is slick and warm and the contrast between the bright keys, dusty pads and scenic synths is pleasing.

 

 

Flying Zen Monk – “Gardens of Time”.

Flying Zen Monk leads us into “Gardens of Time” in their newest release. The laidback piano-driven track is relaxing and reflective from start to finish.

 

 

Leo Motta x Toti Cisneros – “Kindness”

The duo of Leo Motta and Toti Cisneros team up to soothe our spirits with the aptly titled track “Kindness.” The instrumentation taps into the title as it blends soft tones comprising guitar licks, soft horn passes, lush keys with a pulsating bass-driven drum groove to match.

 

lofi pigeon – “Drift Over Rooftops”

“Drift Over Rooftops” is something captivating from lofi pigeon who brings soemthing different to the playlist. The track has a retro soul/R&B vibe reminiscent of the mid 80s with a modern twist.

 

 

strewing – “Playful Notes”.

strewing drops off “Playful Notes,” a chilled key-laden lofi track that captures the moments of serenity that we all experience at certain times.

 

Freddy Schlender – “Prêt à nager”

Freddy Schlender and Jazzy James team up for a lofi/jazzy tune “Prêt à nager,” which means “Ready to Swim” in French. The track has smooth textures, a prevalent guitar lick with Spanish vibes and jazzy horns and grooves that all come together like peas in a pod.

 

 

Chill4est – “Starlight”.

Chill4est returns to our playlist with “Starlight,” a soothing lofi-jazz track that evokes reflective moments that keeps us going.

 

vhskid. – “Notepad Dreams”

vhskid. delivers “Notepad Dreams” to our playlist and it’s another brillaint lofi cut that tugs at the heart strings. The fusion of warm basslines, trippy guitar licks with acoistc feedback and use of depth defining sound design, makes this quite engaging from start to finish.

 

al-btih – “70C03”

Multi-faceted producer al-btih caught our ears with his latest release titled “70C03”. The track are live recordings of his show and it is a raw embodiment of his proficiency and unorthodox style. The drums are sparse and soft out and the textures evoke the feelings of depth and space. The cinematic feel is bolstered by short piano riffs, strings and horns that interlap at certain intervals as the track progresses. It’s quite eclectic and experimental.

 

 

 

 

 

Karate – “Tremendous Fantastic”

 

 

 

Melbourne-based instrumental band Karate help close this week’s playlist with “Tremendous Fantastic.” The track is a blend of genres ranging from folk, bedroom pop with retro Northern soul aesthetics. The plucky guitar licks are prevalent and the piano arrnagement is progressive and soul-stirring while the steady drum groove adds that extra oomph to the track. Then band is made up of musicians Henry Jenkins, Hudson Whitlock, Callum Riley, and David Thor and they will be supporting Surprise Chef on the following dates below
