Rising Irish rapper Malaki‘s latest single “E-GO” is a raw, visceral exploration into the concept of ego and how it plays a pivotal role in our decisions, past, present and future. Over a dark, moody and cinematic backdrop brimming with solemn piano keys, strings and fast-paced drum grooves, Malaki traces his steps and runs through various scenarios in his life where ego played a part. Armed with his laid-back, somewhat whispered vocal tone, which helps punctuate the emotions, Malaki employs a double-time flow to accelerate the energy as he takes listeners into the mix of the action.
As they say, hindsight is 20/20 and looking at those situations from a point of clarity, Malaki proceeds to reconcile those actions and take steps not to make similar errors again.
