Vancouver-based South African-born artist Vuyo The Sun comes through with this insightful and personal single titled “Who Am I” which dives into what really makes them tick. Tapping into elements from spoken word, singing, and traditional South African storytelling, Vuyo The Sun proceeds to draw listeners in with vivid and evocative rhymes and an alluring vocal tone.

Backed by Sammy Rich‘s warm and relaxing backdrop, they unapologetically detail their experiences as a black and queer individual. It’s quite riveting, honest, and also uplifting as they shed light on the brilliance of black excellence in a world that tries to hide it.
