Producer Rediculus and singer Airon Azure both go by the moniker RedAir and their latest leak titled “Hidden Darkness” is a left field, experimental take on neo soul. Rediculus crafts a hell of a backdrop that invokes dark hallways and dimly lit staircases while Airon Azure melodically haunts the soundscape with his unique and compelling vocal performance.  The result is pretty much engaging and definitely something one can appreciate.

Chicago alt-soul outfit RedAir balances the melodic with the chilling on new single “Hidden Darkness,” the follow-up to this spring’s equally stark “Cha Cha Cha.”

While producer Rediculus builds a haunting atmosphere on “Hidden Darkness,” singer-songwriter Airon Azure delivers hints of light with inspiring lyrics and distinctive sing-along vocals. He asks the listener to ditch the darkness from one’s life to expose the truth, no matter how ugly or terrifying it can be. It’s an uplifting, thoughtful message of positivity that’s shared the right amount of musical eccentricity, making it fresh and never hackneyed. RedAir’s dose of reality may be coming through a crooked lens, but it’s reality nonetheless.

Like “Cha Cha Cha” before it, “Hidden Darkness” serves a loosie release by the duo. That being said, be on the lookout for more information on the proper debut project from these Chitown artists as they continue to hone their craft.
